VQ have always had a knack for combining classic design with modern functionality, and with the VQ Monty, they have really outdone themselves. With a gorgeous wooden casing, refreshingly modern front panel, and a host of connectivity options, the Monty is one of the best small DAB radios on the market.
If you’re yet to explore the world of DAB radio, then the VQ Monty makes for the ideal introduction. Finding your new favourite digital stations is simple thanks to the Monty’s handy auto-scan button. With just one touch, it will automatically pick up all available stations in your area. What’s more, the Monty’s antenna is particularly reliable at picking up a strong signal. That means you can enjoy interference-free listening across a wider range of stations than ever before.
It’s no exaggeration to say that the VQ Monty is one of the most beautiful DAB radios on the market. Offering the perfect blend of classic style and modern convenience, the Monty is as beautiful as it is functional. The case is made from real wood, which has been left untreated to allow the natural wood grain to show through. That gives the Monty a stunning mid-century modern style which is sure to stand out in your home.
While the VQ Monty may look like a vintage radio on first glance, a closer inspection reveals a whole host of modern connectivity options which make it so much more than just a radio. On top of the DAB and FM radio modes, the Monty also includes Bluetooth functionality to let you take charge of the soundtrack yourself. There’s also an AUX-in port to connect up wired devices, and a headphone jack for private listening. The VQ Monty even boasts a USB charging port, so you can keep your smartphone powered up while you stream.
On its own, the Monty makes for the perfect bedside or bookshelf DAB radio. However, it’s small size also makes it the ideal choice for taking your music on the go. Luckily, the optional Monty battery pack allows you to do exactly that! Simply slot it into the back of the DAB radio, and you’ll get up to 25 hours of enjoyment from your VQ Monty, wherever you go. Whether you’re listening in the garden, or taking your DAB radio along on a day out, the VQ Monty is the perfect pick.

After having lots of hassle with other digital radios in the past, I thought that I’d put some proper research into my purchase this time. I spent a long time looking at reviews across the web, and the VQ Monty seemed to get a good rep from actual users and not just paid reviewers. It was between this and the Pure Evoke H3 but I ended up choosing the Monty. It’s slightly cheaper and I felt the design looked a bit nicer. Having spent a few weeks living with the Monty now i think I have a pretty good grasp of it. Here are the good and bad points I have come across: The Good +The sound quality is excellent, really clear and bright across lots of different music genres +Very solidly put together, a lot of the time you find that products with a “wood” casing are just textured plastic but the Monty really is made from wood about an inch and a pinch thick. +Bluetooth so you can play your own music as well- also has a jack for a bog standard 3.5mm cable on the back (I use this for playing music off an original iPod) +Design is absolutely fantastic, really modern and the wood finish is beautiful. Mark my words- it will take pride of place in your home! The Bad -No volume wheel. A small flaw but these things matter! Turning the volume up or down means repeatedly pressing a small button on the side of the screen until it gets to what you want. -Buttons are quite fiddly at first but you do get used to them -No preset buttons, you have to scroll through a menu to find them so might as well just find the station you’re looking for by hand Delivery was very fast and staff were friendly and helpful when I phoned up to place my order. Thank you liGo, you’ve earned a repeat customer!

The Q must stand for "QUALITY", because that's exactly what the Monty is! I had planned on mostly using it in the bathroom. But with so many features I've found that I take it all around the house with me, especially since the sound is such high quality. My only wish is that I'd replaced my old radio with a Monty sooner!

We had already bought a similarly priced DAB radio from Sainsburys, but ended up returning it because the sound quality was awful. We did our research this time around to make sure we actually got our money's worth. We eventually settled on the Monty and can highly recommend it. The sound quality is superb, and it has a lot more depth than other DAB radios I've heard. The controls aren't as complicated as some other reviews online suggest, they just take a bit of getting used to but are easy to master. There are also a lot of extra features like Bluetooth, alarm, equaliser settings and a USB charging port. You can set a sleep timer and use it off the mains or a battery, all in all, I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Bought when my knackered old radio finally gave out. Well built and reasonably intuitive. I don't really like touch screens but the promise of good sound quality swayed me towards the Monty. As I expected, the controls are a little bit fiddly, but I've managed to get the hang of them. The sound quality is excellent though and overall I am pleased with my purchase.
